What is a function band. Basically function bands are those who cater for special occasions such as birthday parties, weddings and other organised events. These differ from the normal Saturday night or high brow jazz trios that play down at your local traditional pub on a Sunday afternoon, in that their job is not to pander to the wants of the muso’s, but to appeal to the common man, Joe Public. Although there will be those who want to hear John Coltrane at a wedding it is a fact that Mud and the Grease Mega mix go down a lot better with the wedding party and this is the domain of the function band. Don’t get us wrong the musicians who play in function bands are usually some of the same who riff jazz and blues every other day of the week, but the party band means power chords and Stock, Aitken and Waterman harmonies.
The Bogus Brothers are a function band who have played all over the world and even have a fan site, some of our most recent clients include Ronan Keating and Formula One giant Eddie Jordan. Yes, we are bragging. Those types of client are not unusual for us but most of our bookings are from the general public who want something special for their function. We are all accomplished musicians who love to perform all types of music for all types of people, we can accommodate anyone and everyone’s tastes from classic standards to modern classics.
